Yes you did read the title correctly! and no I have not completely lost my marbles. Lately I have been visiting quite a few wedding fairs and wedding exhibitions, the one thing I noticed was that you lovely brides were accompanied by your gorgeous men. Granted, you may have only dragged them along to carry the bags and pay for the lovely sparkly things! but I got to thinking about what we as wedding planners can do to help the sometimes long suffering other halves.

I totally understand that some men are happy to take a back seat when it comes to wedding plans and be there for advice and support, but what about the ones that really want to take part? I know my husband would not have been thrilled at the prospect of a task including colours, flowers, or anything remotely girly. But he certainly was brilliant at anything practical like giving me really good advice on where to sit people at our reception, sorting out speeches, acquiring suits and transport etc. Not to mention the moral support he gave me.

Whilst I was wandering around the Wedding Show at the NEC taking in all the lovely things on offer I met Andrew Shanahan. Andrew is the founder of I am Staggered, a website for men and wedding planning! Its a first! and its packed with great advice and help all from a mans perspective. Its funny, informative and totally geared to a mans way of thinking.

I thought it would be a great idea to do a regular feature on my blog site. Every Thursday I will run their very best advice, so if you love reading our blog, now you can point your lovely man in our direction too. Its a great resource when you ask him to sort out the honeymoon or organise the suits etc, and most importantly will give him a rest from anything girly. So when he asks you what he can do to help, you can use this blog for inspiration.

Andrew has given us a little preview of what I am Staggered is all about.

“Its the leading UK’s men’s wedding website, packed full of information about stag do ideas, and mens wedding suits for the groom, best man, and father of the bride. Our aim is to give blokes all the information they need to have a successful engagement, stag-do, wedding and honeymoon. We even help make sure that you get your anniversaries sorted. Every so often there’s even a few laughs thrown in along the way.”

I am really excited about this feature and can’t wait for their weekly updates. I am looking forward to really understanding how men feel when they are thrown into the whole wedding planning process and more than that being able to pass along practical advice that is totally geared especially for them. Subscribe to my blog by entering your email address on the side bar at the top of this page, or use this feed address you don’t want to miss out!

Until next time, happy planning.
