Wedding Poems and Quotes – Words to Inspire
Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
Here is another little helping of wedding poem gorgeousness for your wedding day. I love how the words portray the meaning of why you enter into marriage. Its to give as much as you receive and to work at your relationship.
Why Marriage?
Because to the depths of me, I long to love one person,
With all my heart, my soul, my mind, my body…
Because I need a forever friend to trust with the intimacies of me,
Who won’t hold them against me,
Who loves me when I’m unlikable,
Who sees the small child in me, and
Who looks for the divine potential of me…
Because I need to cuddle in the warmth of the night
With someone who thanks God for me,
With someone I feel blessed to hold…
Because marriage means opportunity
To grow in love in friendship…
Because marriage is a discipline
To be added to a list of achievements…
Because marriages do not fail, people fail
When they enter into marriage
Expecting another to make them whole…
Because, knowing this,
I promise myself to take full responsibility
For my spiritual, mental and physical wholeness
I create me, I take half of the responsibility for my marriage
Together we create our marriage…
Because of this understanding
The possibilities are limitless.
Mari Nichols-Haining
Until next time, happy planning.

Wedding Poems and Quotes – Words to Inspire
Friday, April 16th, 2010
Our words to inspire this month really hold true to me because I did marry my best friend. I think if you and your partner are best friends you can get through anything. Your foundation is strong because you really understand and care for each other.
This Day I Marry My Best Friend
This day I married my best friend
… the one I laugh with as we share life’s wondrous zest,
as we find new enjoyments and experience all that’s best.
… the one I live for because the world seems brighter
as our happy times are better and our burdens feel much lighter.
… the one I love with every fibre of my soul.
We used to feel vaguely incomplete, now together we are whole.
I always love to hear unique and heart felt readings. If you have any please send them and I will post them on my blog.
Until next time, happy planning.

Wedding Poems and Quotes – Words To Inspire
Friday, March 5th, 2010
This months lovely words really touched me. I think its so beautiful if you can personalise your civil ceremony with your own choice of readings or poems that will stay with you forever.
It’s you I like,
It’s not the things you wear, it’s not the way you do your hair–
But it’s you I like
The way you are right now, the way down deep inside you–
Not the things that hide you, not your toys–
They’re just beside you.
But it’s you I like–
Every part of you, your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you’ll remember, even when you’re feeling blue
That it’s you I like, it’s you yourself, it’s you,
It’s you I like.
A Song By Mr Roger’s
I also came across these most lovely words below, whilst I was researching for this blog, Style Me Pretty. It was said by a lovely couple. They had corresponded when they first met and this is what he wrote to her when they became engaged.
“Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you was beyond my control.”
That bought a tear to my eye and made me smile all day. Take the time to think of the special things you have said to each other and see if you can’t use them in your ceremony. If you have any lovely readings and poems please pass them on to me and I will publish them on the blog. Call or email I am always thrilled to hear from you.
Until next time, happy planning.

Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no loneliness for you; Now there is no more loneliness.

Go now to your dwelling place to enter in the days of your togetherness.

Wedding Poems and Quotes – Words to Inspire
Friday, December 4th, 2009
Our gorgeous words this month are simple, yet illustrate that you don’t have to have the biggest wedding in the world to show each other how much you want to be together or love each other.
I dedicate this poem to my best friends, Sarah & Lee. Last friday they got married quietly with their closest friends and family.
Pam Brown
A wedding does not depend on flowers or bells or candles, choirs or lace.
It does not need a great congregation or a vast marquee.
Only two people taking the courage to leave one life and find another,
trusting each other for true patience and love,
to face any hardship that the years my bring.
If you have any poems or readings that mean a lot to you, please share them with me, and I will post them on our blog. You can add them as a comment or email me.
Until next time, happy planning.

Wedding Poems and Quotes – Words To Inspire
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
This month our words to inspire mean a lot to me. I said them to my husband at our ceremony. If you can find something that really portrays how you feel, its a great way to tell the man of your dreams how much you care. Especially if like me you can’t always find the words to express what you want to say, a great poem you can identify with will really do the trick.
Its also a little different for the bride to read something at the ceremony. Our guests loved it and it made the ceremony all the more special for us. You can even get the stationer who does your invites to get the poem/reading printed on lovely card for you. Its makes a lovely keepsake.
I Carry Your Heart with me ( EE Cummings)
I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
Anywhere I go you go, my dear;
And whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling I fear.
No fate, for your are my fate, my sweet
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you.
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life
which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide
and this is the wonder thats keeping the stars apart.
I carry your heart I carry it in my heart.
Sometimes inspiration comes from all places and I found this when watching the film In Her Shoes with Cameron Diaz, listen to the gorgeous words here.
If you have a poem or reading that means something special to you, please send it and I will feature it on our blog. If you have a question you want answering give us a call or email and we will be happy to help.
Until next time, happy planning.

Wedding Poems and Quotes – Words To Inspire
Friday, October 16th, 2009
Our poem this month really bought a smile to my face. Its quirky and funny, not at all serious or austere like some readings or poems can be. The poem portrays a lovely message of dedication and love over the years. I know for a fact that when the groom read this to the bride, the guests at the wedding were really delighted by it. Its another one of those details that reflected the couple and totally rang true for them.
When choosing readings or poems for your wedding breakfast or ceremony, take the time to search for ones that truly reflect you as people. Its much easier to say the words when you mean them and your guests can relate to them too. Often speeches are done before the wedding breakfast, and they can be a real ice breaker. It can give your guests something to talk about over dinner or at least start conversation if some of the guests on the table don’t really know each that well. The one thing they have in common is you, so a reading or poem that truly reflects who you both are as a couple gives your guests common ground and its a lovely place to start conversation.
Here is a lovely quirky poem by
John Cooper Clarke – I wanna be yours
I wanna be your vacuum cleaner
Breathing in your dust
I wanna be your ford Cortina
I will never rust
If you like your coffee hot
Let me be your coffee pot
You call the shots
I wanna be yours
I wanna be your raincoat
For those frequent rainy days
I wanna be your dreamboat
When you want to sail away
Let me be your teddy bear
Take me with you everywhere
I don’t care
I wanna be yours
I wanna be your electric meter
I will not run out
I wanna be the electric heater
You’ll get cold without
I wanna be your setting lotion
Hold your hair in deep devotion
Deep as the deep Atlantic ocean
That’s how deep is my devotion.

Wedding Poems and Quotes – Words To Inspire
Monday, September 28th, 2009
A couple of weeks ago it was my first wedding anniversary, I was reminded of our lovely vows, and the poem that I said to my gorgeous husband. I thought it would be a great idea to do a monthly post of a reading, or poem, that you could use or that might inspire you.
If you read our blog regularly you know The Wedding Genie is obsessed with personal detail, so when we hear of a reading that is so well thought out we just have to share it with you. This poem was read at one of our weddings a few weeks ago by the Sister of the Bride. It was so heartfelt it bought a tear to my eye – it suited the couple perfectly.
– Captain Corelli’s Mandolin–
“Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.”
If you want to share your readings and poetry why not let us know, we are always thrilled to hear from our readers, and we can post them on our blog.
If you have a wedding question that you just can’t seem to get an answer to, call or contact us,we are always happy to help.
Until next time, take care and happy planning.
