Alternative Wedding Venue – Exmoor House

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Birmingham, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottingham, CoventryA few weeks ago my husband and I needed a little break and a complete rest for a few days, a place where you can totally relax and chill out. I will let you into our little secret of a fabulous retreat which we think of as home away from home. Exmoor House in Wheddon Cross Exmoor is just the most  fantastic place to unwind, enjoy the outdoors or not! and eat the most delicious home made and home-grown produce you will ever taste.

Exmoor House,  provides B&B and evening meal, is ran by a lovely couple called Rosi and Frank. They are an absolute delight and will really look after you. From hot drinks and homemade cakes on your arrival to tasty and well designed three course meals in the evening. It is super reasonable too.

We first went there about three years ago when we were recently engaged and my husband was taking part in a Half Iron Man competition. He booked us here and since then we have been back three or four times to recharge our batteries.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Birmingham, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry

The area is beautiful for walking and cycling.

The house is really comfortable with only 5 rooms. They are all decorated individually full of Rosi’s thoughtful touches. Frank makes the best scones I have ever tasted and even made me some fresh to take home with his homemade jam. Oh did I mention his homemade chutney too. Picture a wet afternoon with us curled up on their sofa’s in a sitting room for guests with no television and no internet. Perfect peace! Eating superb cheese washed down with great red wine. Rosi really is a dab hand at buying in the most fab wine and I can highly recommend all of them!!

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Birmingham, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, The Midlands

Rosi’s home grown herbs! No frozen quick food here!

In the lounge with comfy sofas is a library of books and maps and walks you can look at to plan your time there in Exmoor. You really do feel like very looked after. Rosi even does Reiki which I had a session of at my last visit.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Birmingham, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, The Midlands

The bedrooms are all very cosy with everything you need.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Birmingham, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, The Midlands

Exmoor House is recommended by The Guardian, 101 Holidays and Lonely Planet. They even have a Green Tourism Gold Award!!

What is also great if you want to hold your wedding reception somewhere a little more unusual and very homely  please consider this an an option. Frank will make you food to die for and you will have the run of the house. It is also a great place for a house party. I keep thinking how Christmas would be here!! Pure heaven. They can even provide champagne and flowers!!

Well off to ponder when we can go again.

Until next time, happy planning.

Real Weddings – Nisha & Seb

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Leicester, Staffordshire, The MidlandsBack in May I had received an email asking me to help with the wedding decor for a wedding being held in Walcote Hall in early July. The supplier that was supposed to be booked had somehow gone awry. I have to admit it is not generally something we do without booking an On The Day Coordination but the lovely bride, Nisha really needed our help.

The wedding was only two months away and not only was the decor not decided but also the same supplier was supposed to have organised the wedding flowers too. I had been thinking of offering such a service which included hire of vases, mirrors, tea lights  etc as well as decor set up so this was the perfect opportunity. I had been stashing various lovely items away just for such an occasion.

NIsha wanted  simple table decor that was stylish and chic. The colour of the wedding was a beautiful bright orange, Nisha had arranged a chill out tent outside with a moroccan theme and for inside where the wedding reception took place she want it to look bright and colourful and for it flow in from the outside. First of all we needed to organise the flowers.

Nisha came for a meeting and met at the lovely Tiaras and Flowers. Anne Brown the very talented florist that The Wedding Genie work with often was a delight. Nisha bought along pictures of the flowers she envisaged for her bouquet and we got to work.

Nisha’s favourite flowers were Calla Lilies and Anne suggested a gorgeous orange colour lily. The bridesmaids were to have bright orange gerberas in hand tied bouquets to compliment Nisha’s bridal flowers.

Just look at how gorgeous they looked and Nisha is just a vision! It really helped too that the wedding day was beautifully sunny and warm. All the images are courtesy of Crucial Image.

The bridesmaids looked stunning standing together. A real colour feast for the eyes.

The grooms mens flowers were chosen to compliment Nisha. Anne managed to find roses that had just the right shades of orange and red in the men.  I just love the Cala Lily that Seb wore.

I love this group shot.

Nisha had already hired Morocan hurricane lamps for the guest tables and then wanted lots of fresh petals scattered on the tables to lift the room. She also wanted me to set the tables with the stationery, menus and favours etc. For the top table we decided that we would use low round glass bowls filled with rose petals that matched the button holes, coloured water to match the theme and floating candles to give a romantic glow in the evening. We arranged the roses in between the glass bowls for the top table and then used the real petals for the tables. To finish off I managed to get a perfect colour organza to match the dresses and flowers for the top table swagging and bows.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, The Midlands, Coventry, LeicesterNisha had personal details on the table which were homemade stationery, disposable cameras for the guests to have fun with, and indian key rings as favours. They were different colours and really made the room look bright and pretty.

Wedding Details to rouse your senses

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Leicester,I do love it when everything is set up at a wedding and I take the Bride and Groom into the wedding breakfast room before anyone else has had chance to see it. Their reaction is so worth all the hardwork and planning. Apart from the table decor we have planned and worked our theme around, I like to use as many candles as possible if the venue allows it. They create such a warm and romantic atmosphere and generally cost very little.

If you can incorporate scented candles to match your theme then this is such an added bonus. Check out some of the ideas below to bring your wedding breakfast venue alive with gentle scents to rouse your senses. These are lovely for a vintage themed wedding, they are available from Not On The High Street.

Don’t use too many, the room should not be overpowered by scent. Just enough to evoke a lovely aroma that suits your chosen theme. Keep to the same scents too. Place them near entrances and in the wedding breakfast venue and at the drinks reception. Keep them away from food so that they don’t overwhelm anyone.

You are better to pay a little more for a good quality make. The more you pay the more the candle lasts and burns evenly. That way it is not wasted when it burns down through the middle and leaves all the wax around the edges unused.

What about these from Folksy, The Lime Garden

I like the rustic look of these cute miniatures. They are named after the mood such as calm, refresh, soothe etc.

Candles make fabulous decorations too. You can use them as centrepieces and decorate them yourself. Check out these ideas to see what you can do cheaply and easily for that something a little different. I love these as table numbers.

These can be ordered in various colours and text of your choice chosen. You can use them to match your theme and they come in batches of 30 for £37.00

Next time I will post a little DIY on how to make gorgeous lace votives. In the meantime if you have great ideas for using candles then please share them with me. I would be delighted to post them on the blog. Don’t forget about handing candles in votives in trees so that when your guests arrive the mood is set for the evening celebrations. Use candles to highlight a path outside to for venue, they look fabulous in large hurricane lamps.

Inspired Alternative Wedding Bouquets

September 9th, 2011 No Comments

Over the last year at a few of our weddings we have helped our brides think about using something that bit different from the standard flower bridal bouquet. I do love flowers it has to be said but if I was able to marry again (to the same man I hasten to add) I definitely would go for for one of these goodies. The one you see here is from our last wedding and Debbie from DC Bouquets is the very talented lady that made it. I will feature more of her creations below.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Coventry, Leicester, The MidlandsOne of the best things ever after the wedding is sitting down and popping all your mementos and little details from your wedding into your memory box. Every now and then I take the lid off and relive one of the best days of my life. Lol that might be dramatic but it really was. If you use one of these bouquets and choose one that fits with your style and decor at home you can see it everyday.

Place them in a position where you will see them all the time. They will last a lifetime, my poor gorgeous flowers ended up in the bin very soon after the wedding the next day.

How about this gorgeous button hole to match too.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Nottingham, Derbyshire, Leicester, The Midlands

For the groom and parents, these are just divine. A great memento.

Here are some of Debbies other great creations. You can choose from the range on the website or Debbie will do something bespoke just for you. Remember though if you want to use this idea then you have to be sure to order in plenty of time. You can imagine the detail that goes into making one of these pretties. I defy you to really enjoy working with Debbie my bride just loved her.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Nottingham, Derbyshire, Leicester, The Midlands

I love that you can have bright colours if you like, or muted tones and how lovely does it look displayed in your finest crystal.

How about a different design made with different materials?  I have a couple who are having a caribean wedding theme next year, how about these gorgeous shell bouquets to really bring out the idea and help them feel like they might very well be on a sunny beach.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Coventry, Nottingham, The Midlands

I absolutely love these from Kimberly Aurora at Romantic Flowers on Etsy. They ship to the UK.

If you like the idea of shells but want a more formal look what could be better than this?

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Coventry, Nottingham, The Midlands

For  the DIY brides amongst us why not have a bash about at making your own bouquet. Butterflie themes at weddings are popular and here is the perfect DIY project from a complete idol of mine Martha Stewart. You can buy the butterflies on line and then they are wired together. Check out the instructions here.

Another lovely idea is to have a bouquet made out of buttons. Button Moon really excel in this area and make the most fabulous designs using fantastic bright colours if that is your thing.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Coventry, Nottingham, The Midlands

I am sorry for this one only for the fact that is from Australia. I don’t normally post things on my blog you can’t get in the Uk or get shipped easily. You can get this one shipped but the waiting time is 40 weeks! If you love this get your order in now. It is super inspirational. One of the most gorgeous things I have ever found. If you are like my brides and really love to have a wedding that is totally you and your theme is quirky or personal to you. How about this bouquet it is for a wonderland tea party them. I heart it!!

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Nottingham, Derbyshire, Leicester, The Midlands

Just look at the detail in this work!

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Leicester, The Midlands

This just proves that if you can think it you can have it if some talented supplier can make it for you. I hope this gives you some inspiration. If you made or bought an unusual bouquet please let us know and I will post them on the blog to give other brides inspiration.

Until next time, happy planning.

Poems and Quotes – Words to Inspire

August 25th, 2011 No Comments

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Birmingham, The Midlands, Coventry, LeicestershireToday I just thought I would share some absolutely lovely words of marriage advice with you. I recently asked the guests at one of our weddings to give the bride and groom their best advice for a long and happy marriage.

One of the guests who was very close to the bride came up with some of the best sayings I have seen and I wanted to share them with you. So look no further if you want to give some really stunning marriage advice.

  • No man is truly married until he understands every word his wife is NOT saying.
  • Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of joy, you must have somebody to divide it with. – Mark Twain
  • A happy man marries the girl he loves: a happier man loves the girl he marries.
  • You may only be one person to the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
  • Within your heart, keep one still, secret spot where dreams may go.
  • Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look which becomes a habit.
  • Love doesn’t make the world go round, love is what makes the ride worthwhile.
  • Love puts the fun in together, the sad in apart, the hope in tomorrow, the joy in the heart.

To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving.
Therefore to love is to suffer, not to love is to suffer. To suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy then is to suffer. But suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be unhappy one must love, or love to suffer, or suffer from too much happiness. I hope you’re getting this down. – Woody Allen

One last piece of advice – Pull together and live for each other.

Until next time, happy planning.

Real Weddings – Eve & Rob – The Italian Job

August 17th, 2011 4 Comments

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, leicestershire, BirmimghamI am so blown away by our real wedding today and as pleased as punch to have been so much a part of it. Eve and Rob are not only a really lovely couple who are devoted to each other, but also the most glamorous couple too, they look like movie stars! Eve has her own Beauty Salon called Mi Mi Spa in Burton on Trent so she does know a thing or two about staying beautiful. One of the best things about this wedding was the way Eve and Rob planned it.

They planned it exactly as they wanted which warms my heart. Eve didn’t want a big wedding with a lot of fuss. She has a very successful business, which takes up a lot of her time, and her idea of a heavenly wedding was to elope! Yes elope the whole thing was done in secret.

When Eve asked me to help plan her celebration wedding party I was thrilled. The plan was to do everything in secret, get married on Lake Garda then come home and surprise her friends and family by holding a party to celebrate their new marriage. Even Rob’s mum and dad did not know, only a very few select people were privy to the secret plans. The best surprise of all for me was what Eve and Rob did in Italy.

Rob’s mum was celebrating her 60th birthday in Italy. Eve and Rob booked a hotel nearby them and planned the whole wedding to take place whilst Rob’s Mum and Dad were on holiday. Can you imagine going away and then seeing your son and his girlfriend in your hotel waiting for you a few days later? At first they did not even mention the wedding and at dinner that night Eve and Rob gave their still stunned parents a wedding invitation. They went out to them on the Saturday and got married on the Tuesday. They planned everything to the last detail, even shopping for a perfect dress for Rob’s mum Lynn and taking Rob’s dad, Geoff his suit over.

You can see from the pictures how absolutely idyllic the setting was. Eve wore a stunning dress from Jenny Packham, Eden, which was bought from the fabulous Silk Brides in Lichfield. I send many of my brides to Jo because she gives fabulous service and her dresses are to die for. When you buy a wedding dress you really want a brilliant shopping experience, as you leave Silk you get one of Jo’s fabulous hugs!

Eve and Rob chose to marry in the beautiful Malcesine Castle

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Birmingham, The Midlands, Coventry, Leicestershire

As Eve walked down the cobbled street to the castle where they got married, the locals clapped and congratulated them.

For a spectacular dress you need spectacular shoes, Eve found just the pair from Emmy which were handmade and match perfectly the Eden dress Eve wore. All through the planning Eve and I had so much fun discussing the style and personal details to make the day extra special. I really miss our morning calls we used to have. Of course it was all a secret so we could not mention the plans at Mi Mi or to anyone else. The other pressure was the time factor. Eve and I started to plan the two events in the middle of March and the wedding was in July, pretty tight time frame but the suppliers I chose for Eve really stepped up the mark and the wedding planning was a really brilliant journey.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Birmingham, The Midlands, Coventry, Leicestershire

Eve has excellent taste and loves all things sparkly and sophisticated as well as vintage. The invitations we chose were from the fabulous Lucy Ledger Designs. Lucy was super busy but squeezed us in and managed to design bespoke invitations just for us. The theme was blue and gold with diamante and lace. Rob had a beautifully cut armani blue suit and Eve’s dress was gold with silver and crystal detail. Check out the invites and guest book below. Eve planned for me to send out the invites the day before they got married in Italy. Everyone received them the day the marriage took place. We wrote on the inserts explaining this and then inviting them to a fabulous party on the newly weds return. We also added little cards for everyone to send back their advice for a happy marriage. I had a lovely time before the party sticking these all into a guest book for Eve and Rob to read after the celebrations. This is a great idea and something lovely to look back on especially on your first anniversary.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Birmingham, The Midlands, Coventry, Leicestershire

The thing that is so great about this wedding is the way that all the details totally reflected Eve and Rob. Eve stayed true to her style and personality all the way through. The couple did hire a wedding planner in Italy that were arranging flowers for the wedding day. Eve wanted flowers that looked freshly picked but was not happy with the choices available. We had a chat and despite me sending many pictures, which helped us rule out what Eve did not want, the one thing we decided was that we should have a really different alternative to the normal bridal bouquet. What better suggestion for Eve was to look at Debbie’s work from DC Bouquets. Instantly Eve fell in love with the website and the gorgeous sparkly offerings. The problem was these types of bouquets do take time to make and are very intricate. Eve was determined and met Debbie in person to discuss the commission. Debbie really came through to fit Eve in amongst her already long client list and made her this spectacular creation. Debbie even used one of her favourite brooches she had been saving to make it extra special.

Eve wanted to add a splash of colour to the gold and silver theme so added blue. Rob had a beautifully cut suit made Adrian Barrows at The Bespoke Tailor in the midlands. Rob looked just like he had stepped off a photo shoot. Check out Robs buttonhole to. Debbie also made them for his parents, they were thrilled because they can keep them forever and it is such a lovely keepsake of the wedding day.

Wedding Decor Inspiration

July 13th, 2011 No Comments

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, CoventryThis week I have had so much fun looking for inspiring decor for my brides. I came across this lovely website that really took my fancy. Not only can you treat yourself to goodies without blowing your budget but Vintage Amethyst has the most gorgeous little pieces to make your wedding decor that little bit unique. Here at The Wedding Genie we are always going on about how the little details make your wedding special so here are a few ideas for you to personalise your special day.

I myself bought a little gift from here this week and I have to say Alison who runs the online Gift and Wedding boutique gave me outstanding customer service. If you read my blog regularly you will know that I love to share great suppliers and companies who care for their clients with the same high level of care that we deliver. I wrote to Alison to get to know her a little bit more about how Vintage Amethyst came to be.

Vintage Amethyst first started with me making jewellery. I had wanted to sell my jewellery alongside pretty vintage home-wears & things I had ‘up-cycled’. Vintage Amethyst (this as you can see is where the name comes from!) was born, but the jewellery was so popular that I decided just to concentrate on making & selling pretty gemstone jewellery for a while.

I loved the jewellery making, but in my heart I knew I really wanted to sell pretty home-wares as I love shopping & decorating my own home. I have always loved the vintage, ‘Shabby Chic’ style & have always painted furniture for our home & so I decided to go with my heart & make the leap into home-wares in 2008 & since then Vintage Amethyst has grown so much. Over a period of time I found that a lot of brides-to-be were buying some of the pretty items for their wedding day & so I added a dedicated wedding day collection specifically for brides for their special day & also for pretty wedding gifts ideas. This has been a wonderful success & I love getting orders for peoples wedding day, it feels lovely to be part of someone’s special day even if it’s only a teeny tiny part.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Coventry, The MidlandsThis is a great idea for a unique table plan. Fab for a barn type wedding. Have lovely cards printed to match your stationery with your guests names and tables on. Slide them into the holder and you have a very simple but stylish way of guiding your guests to their tables.

I love running my online boutique, it is so much fun especially for someone like me with a passion for pretty homes. I love sourcing lovely delicious pretty things that I personally would love to buy & last year I added a collection called ‘Just for You’ where you can find wonderfully vintage inspired clutch bags & pretty jewellery. Vintage Amethyst isn’t just a shop to me it’s a whole life-style & I hope everyone loves the Vintage Amethyst collections as much as me.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, Coventry, Leicester, The Midlands Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Staffordshire, Leicester

I love these ideas. How about using these gorgeous wooden hearts as place names and they can double up as favours. For 10 for £16 it’s so affordable. The paper bunting would look lovely draped around the room or even as edging for the top table and again great for the budget at £7.

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Nottingham, Coventry, Birmingham, Derby, Leicester,These hanging hearts would be great decoration for your venue. If you are having a  vintage theme all these little ideas are inexpensive but give you that little bit of the personal touch. These are £4.50 for three.

There are many other lovely touches over at Vintage Amethyst, Bird cages, lovely garlands and then there are the special treats just for you. You also get a great shopping experience with Alison and your goodies arrive beautifully wrapped. Take some time for a coffee and a browse. I do love the fact too that it can all be done from home, or not that I would advocate this but a sneaky five minutes in your lunch break might just sort out all the decor you need to give your wedding that very personal touch.

Until next time, happy planning.

Wedding Party Gift Ideas for Bridesmaids

July 6th, 2011 No Comments

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, LIchfield, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Midlands, East Midlands, Nottinghamshire, LeicestershireBridesmaids can be such a god send. It’s really lovely to buy them a gift to say how much you appreciated their help during your wedding planning. I know you all want to find something that bit unique and just a little bit special but don’t want to break the budget.

Well today on the blog I have the most amazing company to introduce to you. I was surfing last week keeping up to date with the wedding world and came across Posh Party Bags. What a great idea. The bags look beautiful and are filled with heavenly little details and have a vintage theme which is so popular at the moment. I gave my own bridesmaids a gift bag full of goodies, I wish I had found these then.

Lianne who runs Posh Party Bags has a background in Art Direction. She makes and designs all the bags and favours herself. I love to know that the present I am giving is so well put together with thought and attention to detail. I emailed Lianne and asked her about her ranges.

Currently I have two ranges, with my latest being the ‘Pretty POSH’ range which reallys appeals to the vintage inspired bride.

The Pretty POSH party bags make an ideal gift for bridesmaids or any special ladies on your big day or hen do. The label on the front can carry a personal message, or the recipient’s name, and inside they will be spoiled with pretty, pearly, vintagy loveliness!

Traditional bridesmaid gifts are often items that can be used on the day of the wedding itself, such as a necklace ( I love this idea!) so I have selected a

  • Beautiful long pearl and crystal necklace along with
  • A sample of Prada Milano perfume
  • A flower corsage with crystal detail
  • A pot of champagne bubbles
  • A vintage box filled with pink bonbons and
  • A shabby chic hanging heart

Each bag costs just £20.

What about some tasty chocolate to introduce your party bag?

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham, The Midlands, Coventry, Leicsester

Our Pretty POSH chocolate bars have been designed to compliment this range.

These beautiful bars can be used on your tables to act as the guest’s name card and favour in one. Alternatively you can have a generic message on all the bars like your new married name and the date. Golden tickets can be inserted into special guests’ bars (or guests chosen at random) to announce they’re going to receive a gift. ie You could put one in all the bridesmaids’ bars to announce they’re going to receive a Pretty POSH party bag! These retail at £4 each.

My second range is what i describe as modern bling. I’m a bit of a magpie when it comes to all things shiny so lots of metallics, jewels and glitter make up this range. Inside the black POSH Party Bag I have chosen a crystal bracelet in an organza bag, a black bamboo hand fan, a sample of Givenchy’s glitter body gel, a black flower corsage with crystal detail, a pot of champagne bubbles, a stylized silver party popper, and some foil wrapped chocolates complete the bag.

My glitter wrapped chocolate bars compliment this range perfectly and the glitter wrappers comes in pretty much every colour you can think of (these can be seen under the POSH extras tab on my website www.poshpartybag.com) so can be tailored to match any colour scheme. These can also include a golden ticket and your guest’s name can be applied in glitter letters.

I’m a complete perfectionist and I like to know that my products reach each couple in perfect condition, so I usually ask for them to collect them from my showroom in Macclesfield, Cheshire rather than trusting a courier! My showroom can be viewed by appointment where I have samples of all my party bags and favours and a few extra finishing touches like table plans that I have designed as a result of previous couples asking me to design them something bespokely. I also have candy buffets set up in my showroom which i personally deliver and set it up at each party, so my clientele are usually based in the North West.

If you really want to add to the style and give your guests a sweet treat instead of favours, why not check out Lianne’s candy buffet, dressed POSH Party Style. I absolutely love the idea of a candy buffet that matches your super stylish theme. It looks so decadent but scrumptious too!

This is available to hire and all the sweets are selected to match the couples colour scheme, Lianne dresses the jars accordingly with matching colour ribbons and pearls. etc. All the labels on the jars can also designed to suit the theme of the day.

These are such lovely presents and favours, I love the idea of the bridesmaids being able to wear their gifts on the day of the wedding. A little bit of decadence in a bag. I for one am going to think about buying one of these lovely bags for my best friends. Sometimes you just want to say thank you for being there.

Well visit again on Friday and I have more goodies to look at for your wedding day decor and just lovely little treats for yourself when you need a break from all things wedding.

Until then, happy planning.

Wedding Inspired DIY

Wedding Planner, Coordinator, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, LeicestershireToday I thought I might post a little inspiration for those who are really getting down and DIY! I am working with lovely brides at the moment who are really thinking about the details on their wedding day. Putting a little thought and time into doing something that bit different will really show your guests you care. I have been having a look around at the goodies you can buy and make and hope you feel as inspired as I did.

First of all lets think about innovative place name cards, or use these as seating cards for an alternative to a table plan. I love to have something different and this idea with Lavender from the lovely Martha Stewart is simple and for summer weddings makes a great impact. They smell lovely too. Apart from little bunches of lavender which you can trim from your garden or buy a few little plants from garden centres. You need two strips of paper, one side printed with your guests name and the other with the table number. Arrange them on a table and your guests pick their bunch up and take it to their table. Heavenly and so easy to do!

How about this idea too for a summer beach style wedding.

You’ll need a 1-inch-deep tray, a sheet of 1/4-inch foam board cut to fit into bottom of the tray,(or you can use some oasis)and some sand. Lay the foam board in the tray, and cover with sand. Drizzle sand unevenly, sifting a bit more here and there to form dunes. Print your seating assignments onto colored paper, and cut them into strips; glue strips to the shafts of the umbrellas. Poke the umbrellas through the sand into the foam board at an angle so guests can easily find their names. Read more at Marthastewartweddings.com: Parasol Seating Cards

I really do love Martha Stewart she really is an inspiration.

How about decor now? What about bringing your venue to life with these lovely paper banners. One of my brides used these at a barn wedding last year and they looked just heavenly strung against the beams. You can buy them from here , here or here is how to make them.

If you want to see and read more about this wedding just click here. If you want to send me your inspired decor ideas I would love to see them. I will make this a regular feature now to find you affordable but beautiful little details.

Until next time, happy planning.
